I don't know how it works on the pre 2000 SVT's but if installed properly on the 2000 it works perfect Hurting you...how can it possibly hurt your shifting if it is installed correctly It's just a little spring...it doesn't affect the shifting in any way whatsoever

I put 260 miles on my car in one day this past Saturday during the Capital CEG meet and did a ton of shifting some at pretty high speeds through some nice winding roads in VA and couldn't be any happier ALL my shifts were firm and quick with no miss shifts or grinding of gears!

Do the install right and don't rig anything and you won't be sorry
