The engines on all of the Contours/Mystiques we have had were very warm to the touch. My 1999 SE Sport Duratec runs in the middle of the temp gauge (11 o'clock), so did our 1998 Mystique Duratec, and our 1998.5 SVT. I don't have anything written on my temp gauge (the 99 SE Sport). Every other Contour I've seen has NORMAL written on it, the needle usually points between the R and the M. I always wondered why mine has no lettering. Anyone else have a Contour or Mystique with no lettering on the temp gauge?
