I ordered a set(17's) w/tires from a gentile in PA, off of the classifieds here. I tracked them through UPS, and they should arrive today. I have no experience with aftermaket wheels and was wondering if there is anything I should do besides mounting/balancing? I read the FAQ and 38-43 is an acceptable offset for aftermarket. Great, but what does it all mean Bazzle? I'm not dumb, just inexperienced with this. Any advice would be lovely. And to add insult to injury I don't remember what tires are on it, and I don't remember if they are 7.5's or 7's.

I think that they're 7"...

Give'em a proper cleaning before you put them on. I use a good polish, followed by a good wax. That'll keep the dust off'em and make cleaning easier.

I wonder if they need hub-centric rings? You might check that. And also if the lugs are included. Different wheels require different style of lugs...

And as to offset...just watch your tires for rubbing and listen for it too...

You should have no problems with 17" Tantrums as far as rubbing.

Tantrums do require hub centric rings to fill the gap between the wheels and the hubs.

Sweeet! UPS just dropped them off to my office.(small family owned) As far as I can tell they're in really good condition. The only packaging was plastic wrap, which seems cheap but oh well. The tires are Yokahamas(sp?). Not sure what series, but they appear to be in pretty good condition as well. The centric rings are the little black things on the inside right? If they are then they are already on. I will get Mark(Y2KSVT) to post pics when we get time, he has the digi camera. I'm curious how it will look without lowrering it. I really don't have the money for that right now so it will be a while. Hopefully it looks good with minimal wheel gap. Thanks for the advice folks, I'll let you know how it turns out. I sure am excited though.

Wow great pics man thanks!! These wheels must get around. Are the majority of those cars lowered? They look great. And OMG it frightened me seeing that stock bumper on 95MID's car.

One thing I noticed with my Konigs and my hubcentric rings,
63.5mm is what I got but they were loose in the front.. I had been torquing down to 94ft/lbs, but I had a vibration that was coming and
going.. the wheel was shifting a little bit(my assumption at least)
I just recently torqued to 100ft/lbs and now its smooth as can be.
I think that little extra bit was enough to pull the wheels center.

Eric,

FORD Specs for lug nut torque are only 85 ft/lbs.
Be careful when you torque them more than that.
If you snap a lug, you'll have to replace it
with something stronger, if you want to torque them more.

Put them on last night. Look great, very pleased to say the least. I put them on using my spare jack which sucked. But the stock lug wrench wouldn't fit in the space provided by the rim, to tighten/loosen the lugs. So I went and got my 3/8ths wrench and a socket to use. Everything was fine and dandy. I went and adjusted the air pressure in each one and was on my way to store my E1's. While driving down the road I start to hear this clunk clunk clunk flop flop flop sound. I was petrified! I thought I got deuched on bad used tires. So I pull over, expecting to have to do a full switch back to the E1's right there, and to my surprise no flats!. So I look under the car for anything dragging or rubbing and can't find anything. By this time I am so scared and clueless that I am ready to shoot myself. Well after many trials of looking around for something out of place, I decide to put the E1's back on just to be safe. As I go to loosen the lugs I notice, holy sh!t they're already loose! I had forgotten to re-tighten the lugs after lowering each wheel to the ground. The funny thing is that Mark (Y2KSVT) told me to do this before I left and I forgot. So I went around and tightened each lug as tight as I could with the 3/8ths wrench and problem solved. Everything has been smooth sailing since then and I am very relieved. But there is a question to all of this jibberish. I weigh 155 lbs and am about 5"9' in height, I exercise regularly and am pretty strong for my size. With me pulling as hard as I can on that wrench for each lug(no extension used) , will they be too tight or too loose still? I will get these balanced soon but until then I don't want to f**k anything up. I don't have a torque wrench so this will have to do until I take it somewhere. Any comments? But they look sooo nice. Basically identical to the pics above, but on a black SVT w/no spoiler and tinted windows.
