Not in the form that they're imagining, at least.
The new Mondeo is already in Europe. In fact, the ST220 is one of the most powerful Mondeos ever, with 3.0 Duratec V-6, Recaro seats, 18" wheels, etc. The problem is... Mondeo is close to Taurus in size, and Ford can't introduce the new Mondeo in the US without eating away at Taurus sales. As Taurus is still the #3 seller after Camry/Accord in sedans, it's still big money.
However, as others have said, Taurus is going away soon, to be replaced by one of those common platforms with odd crossover names. Not in the next year, but in the next 36 months or so. The replacement will be bigger, which will make room for the new Contour (though it MAY just go by the Euro name, Mondeo).
