Not the Mondeo, unfortunately.

Mondeo's Big Brother, the FiveHundred: Is it me or does it look like a cros between a Mondeo, Sable, and the rear of a Lincoln LS. Even a little Audio thrown in there.

My guess is that they will make them better this time. Maybe even import them from Europe? I doubt very much if Ford build quality has improved at all. Someone posted here about how poorly rated Foci are for quality. Expect more of the same. Getting factories to improve their quality output is not easy. I know, I deal with it everyday, although in a very different industry. It requires a complete change of attitude and outlook of everybody on the production line and that change of heart takes a while and a lot of engineering controls and checks. Again, not easy to implement. If they are to be imported from Europe, I would expect them to be more expensive than we expect. I'd really like to be wrong on this one.

Even if there's no Mercury Mondeo, I thought they had already decided to bring out a Mondeoid as the new incarnation of the Mazda 626. Under that name there will probably be a lot more Mondeoids sold as family sedans than ever happened with the Contour. ("Contour" as a name really was not a very good marketing move.)

Nick Scheele of Ford admitted dropping the Contour was a mistake, in articles from the NYC Auto Show.
The upcoming "500" looks to be the true successor to the SVTs and 'Tours. It is bigger then the Taurus inside, but not outside. It actaully may be even better than the current Mondeo.
The Taurus is doing the fade out like the Escort did. It is still too cartoony and too many end up in fleets.

"I doubt very much if Ford build quality has improved at all."
According to the Detroit News, Ford's turnaround for quality is working. And, no 2002 Foci were recalled. (Correct me if wrong) Also, no f ups for the new 2003 Expeditions being built now
If they f up again, guess what? They are done, so I think this time they may finally get it.

Does anyone know anything about the Cross Trainer platform? Is it shared with anything (besides the 500)?
