I had my timing belt and water pump and pullies replaced at 125km, at a cost of $600. Both the pump and belt were in phenomenal shape, pullies seemed okay too, looked like they could have lasted another 100km, and now I feel like I was ripped.
Na....you just did Preventative Mantainence. It's such a drag replacing something that you can't feel/see a diffence after its done.....argh. Just drive your car smuggly , knowing your belt won't cause trouble for a long , long time.

if you feel capable of doing this yourself it is reasonable to change everything in about 4 to 5 hours.
you need to support the engine and remove the motor mount, mark or lock the cams and the crank to make sure you don't lose timing, take the three covers off and then replace what you want to

it was a easy on my 96 tour i just went to home depot and bought some 3\16 flat bar and cut it down to size (found out i could of bought one from the mac truck for $10)
then i went and bought the new tensioner and spring a new water pump a new T belt and a serp belt and tensioner \\then i put it together in 3hours
its kinda weird with the whole spring deal (i didnt buy the bolt i just use one of my valve cover bolts ) you just install the bolt in the whole under the exgaust cam then install the spring and tensioner pulley at the same time. then you just pull the tensioner over to extend the spring then tighten the bolt , then you make sure the belt is tight on the exgaust cam and crank sproket NO SLACK then pull the belt over the intake side NO SLACK between the cams then you loosen the tensioner bolt and rotate the motor around twice then tighten the bolt for the tensioner and remove your valve cover bolt and spring
oops dont forget your water pump when your down there also i had a hard time with the lower rad hoes on the water pump
hope this helps

You need a compression tester and something to lock the cams.

You do not need a compression tester.

If you want to do it right you need a compression tester. Better safe than sorry.

Make sure you get all the pullies changed
I'll second that. Changed my belt without changing the pulleys, Let's just say it was a $450.00 lesson learned when I got stuck on the way to a meet.

I have no idea why u would need a compression tester for it either.
I will be doing mine this weekend, new belt, idlers, tensioner, water pump, 180 thermo, fuel filter, and serpentine Drive belt. I'm just waiting for my tensioner spring and bolt from the dealer, and mintex rear shoes from bat.
