I've had a 1990 CRX Si for a month, what fun!
The shifter is the best I've experienced - sweet short throws, and just the right amount of snick-snick.
The car is so light (2000 lbs) that the 108 hp pulls it around just fine. And the motor is not lacking in torque - 98 lb-ft is just fine. Nor is the engine peaky - 5th gear at highway speeds...toe into it and off she goes.
But downshifting is so fun, why not?
The brakes (4 wheel disc starting in 1990) suck still.
Handling is great, but mine seems to lack power steering, so the steering is bloody heavy for parking.
The car is tiny, but then with no back seat, the trunk is large.
A great car, and with me driving 50/50 city/hwy, I get 36 mpg, which is 30 mpg in US gallons.
Fantastic little commuter car, and so efficient for blasts around town.
This particular car is all stock, no intake, exhaust, nothing. It has new Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires.
Never drove a Honda before this one, and now I'd consider the rare 1999-2000 Civic Si with the 1.6L 160 hp screamer. I'm sold, Hondas are OK. Not cool, but certainly very satisfying if you want efficient, zippy transportation. A great 3rd car in my opinion. (See sig)
