My '95 SE blew up....to be more precise, I bent a bunch of valves on the right side (facing forward) of the engine.

I have located a SVT engine, I want to know of the stock SE (without addition of computer chip) computer will run the SVT engine properly...I expect somewhat of a power loss, but I am concerned about reliability at this point. I know about the vacuum secondaries, and the different knock sensors. I just need to know if my computer is up to it...

Any info is very appreciated.

HERE You started this topic and I think it may actually answer your question.

Simon96SE had issues with his conversion and he was using stock SE computer. I don't think he ever got it to fire up - parting the car out afterwards. (memory is kinda shaky)

You would definately need to worry about PATS and OBD1 (95) to OBDII (96+) and the larger fuel injectors....

the 95's have a different ECU all together I think. You have the ECC-IV whereas all Contours after 95 had the ECC-V. Also PATS and the OBD1 n 2 differences

I forgot all about that thread...

Anyway, If I used the computer from the '95, pats would not be an issue....nor would any swapping between EEC 4 and EEC 5. The sensors are pretty much interchangable except for the knock sensors....(but you just tap the holes out a little and you're all set there). My real concern is if the '95 ecm will be able to control the fuel curve appropriately. I would clearly need the larger SVT injectors. I just want to know if the computer will freak out or not.

That is a somewhat more tought out question now. Any more info would be great.

if you can get an air/fuel controller or a custom burned chip, then i would think the computer would be ok to run the engine. without it, i think the car will run like sh*t due to the larger injectors

and yes - using the stock SE computer - you would not have to worry about the PATS. I'm just wondering the whole 'OBDI' to 'OBDII' business..

The one I located is in Lebanon. I think I am going to pass as I really do not have the $$ or the motivation to get the new electronics, and get the thing tuned.

thanks everyone.
