A friend of mine has one. It's fun at first, but it gets old. It doesn't go fast enough. The only real way to have fun is to pick up speed, turn real quick and get it up on one wheel. Definitely not worth $5k. I would rather have a modded Goped or Polini.

I saw a thing on Dateline NBC last night about the prototype wheelchairs that normally rolled on four wheels but could balance on two, and in the process elevated the user to what we would consider a normal standing height. The balancing system was so good that one user caught a 25lb. weight tossed to him without toppling over, and he played catch with his kids.

I saw a documentary on that as well. In addition to all the balancing tricks of the Segway, the new wheelchair will be able to walk up steps! It was simply amazing. Hopefully it will be affordable to low income folks.

totally rather have a goped (goped.com). I sold mine about a year ago because I got married but man it was cool. I had a high compression head, single ring piston, aftermarket adjustable carb, aftermarket intake with cone K&N filter, and double bearing drive spindle... all good for 55 kmh (about 33 miles/hour). Plus you can take them racing.

95 SE MTX, every option except sunroof - SVT motor mounts - Taurus baffled oil pan - Energy insert and bushings - KKM - optimized TB - resonator removed - big plans

Segway Chicken. We used to have some at the office. That's all they got used for.
