I have some bad corrosion on my + battery connector, so I went out and bought those heavy duty connectors from my local audio store. My question is the corrosion is soo bad that the nut to loosen the old connector wont budge and to make it even more difficult it is almost stripped, how can I get the connector off? Only thing I can think of is to go buy a saw and cut the fooker off, any suggestions? Also, please do not state the obvious such as WD40 or cleaning w/a carbonated drink, already tried those. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm confused. Are you talking about your positive battery cable? The part that connects to the battery itself?

If so you can buy new connectors, (brass or lead) and tear the old one up in taking it off. Then just use the new connector.

Vice grips might give you that extra bit to get the bolt off.

Yes I am talking about the connector not the cable. I do not have any vice grips but I will get some and give it a shot..

Anyone else have any experience with this?

The reason I mentioned that is my car has gone through a couple of battery connectors. They are easy to put on, however. They also come with the bots to attach them to the battery, so don't try to salvage that old connector. Be sure to disconnect the negative side as well as the postive when you do put the connector on, that way you don't get a shock!

Well vice grips did not work, the bolt is stripped to hell at this point, not to mention the corrosion is acting like cement.

I'm very annoyed.
