had an idea, the newer mustang kickpanels from qlogic, appear to be exactly the same. now, they are only plastic, so i beleive i can use a heat gun and make any changes needed. this will give me what i need to put jl 8w3's in my door, and my alpine dddrive 6 1/2 components in the kickpanels. what do yall think?

Sounds like a good plan to me. Similar to my plans for my car. :-)

Oh yeah, BTW, The magnets on the w3's may be way too big to put in there. The window may not go down. Check this before you cut the holes.

The magnets on my 6.5" JLs didn't clear the window. I had to build a new bracket out of metal and weld it into the door to make it fit. The way it is right now, the sub pushes the door panel out a bit so I am going to cut out the speaker grill so the sub comes through. JLs subs aren't tacky so it should work nicely. Another thing you'll want to do is apply generous ammounts of foam tape to any two pieces of plastic that touch each other before you put the panels back on. It may seem like your car has no rattles now but when there are cones built into the door shaking 100 times a second, you'll hear every one (The worst rattles come from the seatbelt reels) I hope this helps.

well, i decided to put 8" diamond audio mid basses in the stock location. my buddy has them left over from the shop and is giving them to me for cheap. hes also keeping an alpine 5 channel limited edition amp (he has two, only 500 made, 75x2+100x2+300x1 rms) im going to run the diamonds off of the 100watt channels and my dddrive components off of the 75 watt channels, and an diamond audio macdaddy 12 off of the 300 watt channel. im definately going to try since i dont know how to fiberglass and im sure it would be hard to learn off of a curved surface like a kickpanel. i have to get a real job now to afford all this does anybody know how to fiberglass? i need to find a used one or something, like off of ebay or something. anybody know where i can get one? check the paper, ebay, anywhere! ill definately tell you all exactly what to do and not do, or if its possible. im convinced it is. wish me luck

Iam about to undertake a similar project. I have a link somewhere on how to do fiberglass work. It is less complicated than it seems it would be.

remember guys to paint your fiberglass after you sand it, otherwise you'll have this really powerfull sweet odor in your car...really bad. Fiberglassing is really pretty simple, use latex gloves. go to home depot and you can buy a whole box of them. Also get some Bondo for shaping after you get the fiberglass how you want it, it's "softer" than fiberglass for final shaping. anymore questions let me know

Fiberglass is actually easier than it looks. I made new defroster vents in my front windows so they could hold my tweeters and had some ground effects done for my rear bumper and sides. My uncle built fiberglass roofs for camper trailers and helped me out with my car, I thought it would be harder than it was.

see, it might me incredibly simple, but i just cant find out how. i was told by a dealer that there is a new catalog coming out in about a week and he called the company and they said that there is now a kickpanel for almost every application. cross your fingers! any good books, videos, links on how to do fiberglass?
