I too am uppity then, because I feel that we shouldn't have to make tests and other things in different languages. If I were to go to another country that didn't speak english I would try and learn the customs and language, so that I would not offend anyone. It's one thing if you go for a short time, it's another if you are planning on being in that country for a long period of time. Yes, this nation did start out from immigration, since then we have had slavery, a civil war, along with many other wars(all of which have never been on U.S. territory), womens rights, the desegregation of schools and such. So things do change over time, and we as a society need to stop looking in the past for answers, but instead look in the present and future.
On a side note, I am fine with legal immigrants, if they are willing to try and adapt to the society and try to make it better in some way. Those that come here illegal upset me even more, because 1. they don't pay taxes 2. if they drive and get in an accident the other person will most likely have to pay even if it is not their fault 3. they take the money they get and return or send it back home(most cases)
