hey John Rocker, i assume by your emoticon that you are kidding .. or at least i hope so.
for one, the students at Ohio State whom you speak of are probably not interested in emigrating. secondly, they are probably investing more dollars into your education and your local economy during their stay at OSU than you are into any one of theirs. thirdly, i see no justifiable reason why foreign students should not be allowed to speak their native tongue in a public setting. your being bothered by this clearly speaks to your own insecurities and ignorance. in keeping with the tradition of attending an institution of higher learning, perhaps you should introduce yourself and get some kind of cultural exchange going. if that's so difficult, you can always find a seat at Bob Jones University where you'll find like-minded people.
peace, brotha'.
hahah, you just owned me. i never thought about those students being here only temporarily. if that is the case, then them speaking their native language is understandable. either way, i don't think (as mentioned) we should cater to people speaking other languages, such as people in dominantly mexican/spanish-inhabited areas having road signs printed in spanish also. also, i'm not overly insecure regarding others speaking languages which i don't understand, but i would like to know what they're saying
