Hmmmm....
I guess it doesn't surprise me because the 170hp CSE is a bit lighter than the CSVT so power to weight ratios are pretty close (right?). It's only after 100mph where the CSVT is a bit faster than the CSE V6 (right?). Is your friend sporting big rims? Assuming he has just a standard intake and catback (no y-pipe), he should be able to get some lower 15s if he's a halfway decent driver. If he's good, he could grab some 14.8s. Tell him to shift at an indicated 6500 on the 1-2, 6300 on the 2-3, and 6000 on the 3-4.
For reference, when I had just an intake, y-pipe, and catback, I was getting 14.7@95mph which was quicker than all 5 of the NA CSVTs that showed to the track that day. DemonSVT was right on my tail though.
Speaking of DemonSVT, I hope we can get some runs in against each other since we both have more mods since we met last time (him beating me by the way).

This is not correct. Overall weight of SVT is within 50 lbs of an SE. Torque curve is similar down low but much higher in the higher rpm range. Overall power to weight is higher in the SVT. The SVT outpulls the SE as soon as you hit 2nd gear and it gets worse from there. At the end of third gear there is no comparison, speaking stock for stock. The contour GL v6 5spd from 95-97 was only 2760 lbs and are significantly lighter than the SE. Based upon power to weight ratios they should be faster than the SE since the SE was about 2950-3000 lbs, about 200 pounds heavier. If you are turning 14's with an SE then you are doing great and you have a hell of a motor.
