They still hate, but beating the CSVT isn't on top of many car buyers lists these days if they even know what it is.

A 5 speed 96 Max against a mostly stock CSVT will be a drivers race. Both cars are capable of lower to mid 15s in the low 90s. The 2000-2001 5th gen Maximas are rather doggish because they gained a lot of weight (~250lbs) in the redesign therefore gained power was offset. The automatic 2000-2001 are actually slower because powerband was shifted higher in the rpm range therefore they lagged off the line. The 2002-2003s are pretty powerful and most 6 speeds get around 14.5-14.6 and autos around 14.8. There are a handful that have gotten a little quicker.
BTW, I have a 96 Max.
