for the 03 it doesnt matter if its gle or se the both have the same 255hp. GlE just comes with all the luxery options like leather and sunroof standard. since the 96 is stock you should be able to beat him. you said the 96 was a gxe so it is a little lighter...probably weighs a little more then 2900 lb

The GLE also only comes with the ATX, while the SE could be the ATX or MTX.

i would of mentioned this except for the fact that it doesnt matter cause you will lose to a 02+ maxima auto or 6spd. unless you have some type of forced induction or you have a 3.0 swap with a good amount of bolt ons dont plan on beating the 03 maxima

Hey, where are all those Maxima trolls that used to come on here and stir up trouble? I really miss those days when the CSVT was still in production and trolls would come around hatin'

They still hate, but beating the CSVT isn't on top of many car buyers lists these days if they even know what it is.

Yeah, where did all those Maxipad trolls go

A 5 speed 96 Max against a mostly stock CSVT will be a drivers race. Both cars are capable of lower to mid 15s in the low 90s. The 2000-2001 5th gen Maximas are rather doggish because they gained a lot of weight (~250lbs) in the redesign therefore gained power was offset. The automatic 2000-2001 are actually slower because powerband was shifted higher in the rpm range therefore they lagged off the line. The 2002-2003s are pretty powerful and most 6 speeds get around 14.5-14.6 and autos around 14.8. There are a handful that have gotten a little quicker.

BTW, I have a 96 Max.

I took a 96 Maxi on the highway the other night. Maybe he should spent more money on performance than lights. Caught him in 3rd as he tried to pass and lost sight of him in 5th.

Ain't that the truth, most Maximas are just running some cheapbutt rice lights and bling-bling rims. Those of us that are decently quick are far and few between. It makes for a great sleeper though. Most people assume it's a 4-banger. The 99+ 4.6 Mustang crowd seems to know what's up because those are most of the guys itching to race me. I win some and loose some.

what mods do you have to run that time? is that with all the bolt ons. my friend has a 97 5spd maxima with intake,y-pipe, b-pipe, and some kinda muffler. im trying to convince him to get a MEVI. its amazing how much the y-pipe does for the maxima. im pretty sure its cause the precats are in the y-pipe where as on contours the precats are in the headers.
