My dad just bought a GMC Sierra pickup last night, we ended up driving 2 hours away to find the one he wanted. It had every feature he wanted exept for a CD stereo. It has a plain ol' am/fm in it. It's a double din stereo, so I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a decent double din radio? Preferably with CD and tape? Currently I'm looking at this JVC. He really doesn't want to spend a whole lot and this seems decent for the dollar. Any suggestions? I assume he would still have to buy a harness and some sort of install kit for the dash? I'm really only seeing the wiring harness online at a lot of these internet sites, I thought you had to get a dash kit also? Any recommended sites for getting the wire harness and dash kit?

It's actually a 1.5 DIN opening. A double DIN radio probably won't fit without some modification. I'd suggest a 1.5 DIN radio like this here Pioneer (they go for a bit under $200).

Pioneer DEH-P47DH

are you certain its a 1.5 din on the 2003 GMC Sierra? i tried adding that pioneer to my cart but when it asked me the make/model car i'd be installing it in, it said it was not compatible with it, and therefore will not include installation wires or kit.

I was just looking at some interior pics. A double DIN might fit. But, I think either the 1.5 DIN or double DIN will require some work to make fit due to some sort of depth or mounting bracket issues. The On-Star system might also throw a wrench into the works if so equipped.

Might want to check some GMC message boards for more specifics.

An FM modulated CD changer might be the easiest and least expensive route.
