I am thinking of having my water pump replaced in my 98' CSVT before the plastic impeller breaks and ruins something. Can you give me an idea of what a mechanic may charge to install a new pump (this includes labor and the part cost). Thanks

Excellent advice! NAPA carries the Dura-pro, a metal impeller replacement. I replaced the pump on my SE, perfect fit. The part # is 125-1910.

How difficult is it to replace the water pump on the SVT? (also, do you have to drain the cooling system?)

I read the article by the way so no need to get mad. I just wanted to see where the pump was located on my engine and it diesn't look to hard to get to and change. My last question is.........what brand of water pump you recommend? I called NAPA and they have one for about $67. Someone else previously recommended a pump from NAPA also, so should I just get that one?

Also, I noticed that the peson who recommended the NAPA pump doesn't have an SVT..........so will that part number he posted work for all the V6 contours (dispite whether it is an SVT or not)?
