jay i was talkin to a buddy of mine, actually you may remember him from the meet i went to that time *you were riding [censored]*, he had the blue escort, but he has a scooter he needs some welding done to

i want him to get it fixed, cuz i need to rip some wheelies on that thing

think you can help????

heres a link with pics of the scooter..... http://www.boostgeek.com/cgi-local/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Pics;action=display;num=1056901382

heres whats wrong: If you look at the pic... the part of the handlebar that's black with two silver ends top and bottom.... well the black part seperated from the bottom silver collar which compromises stability

Well I can't say yes or no to wether I can fix it yet for two reasons.

1, I don't know what the material the part that needs welding is made of, I can only weld steel and steel alloys with my welder.

2, I don't know the thickness of the metal, my welder has a minimum thickness it can weld. If the metal is too thin the heat the welder generates would melt through and make a hole.

If I could have the scooter in front of me I could determine if I can weld it in a few seconds.

Chances are it is made of steel and is just barely thick enough for me to weld. However, if the thickness of the metal is borderline I can't guarantee that it won't crack again.

If the metal is too thin for my welder but the guy that runs the auto shop in the garage has a oxy/acetelyne torch with welding tips and some filler rod I could gas weld it for you as long as the owner of the equipment is comfortable with me using it.

If there's a possibility that you could have your friend bring the scooter to where you work I could swing by on sunday and bring my welder with me. If its something I can do I'd be able to weld it right there and you could be riding it again as soon as the metal cooled.

BTW, from the looks of the pic I can see that the spark arrester in the muffler might be clogged with carbon.

If he wants I can bring some tools and disassemble the muffer and clean the spark arrester, or just remove it which will certainly free up the muffer, make it a little louder and allow it to breath better which will free up some power.

The job of the spark arrestor is to stop any glowing carbon pieces from escaping out the muffler. The spark arrestor is important if the engine is operated in areas where there is danger of a spark causing a fire.

Hey JSmith, I'm Bill the guy with the scooter. I really appreciate the offer to help me out. I wanna say that the bar is made of a light steel, possibly alloy but I'm not a metal expert so I don't know for sure. I'd be more than happy to bring it down to you so you can check it out. We can get Corey in the mix too because I know he wants to try it out. Let me know when a good time is for you, I work Tue Wed & Fri nights so I'm flexible. I'll check this post later on to see what's up. Thanks!

well if you can bring it by where Corey works on Saunday I can swing by with my welder and take a look at it.

If a magnet sticks to the metal I can weld it if its not too thin.
