Well I admit I didn't make the best run in my life. However he could've been modded. I would almost lean towards him being modded just by the way his car sounded. But then again I have no idea. All I know is that we ran neck and neck through each gear. I hit the rev limiter atop second like I said, but other than that it was smooth.

Actually according to Consumerguide.com, they only have 170 hp (181 tq) and weigh over 2900 pounds...sounds just about like my SE Sport...w/ the exception of more torque obviously...

Hyundai had the same problem recently with their engines that plagued the Miatas and the last NA Mustang SVT Cobras. I read the article recently in a Motor Trend magazine, although I can't find the article online to back myself up. The biggest loss was in the Accents though, so there's not much to worry about.
I'll plainly admit the new Tiburons are dead sexy cars to me (I think mini-me Ferrari 456M) but if I remember correctly, to the person that said they test drove 5 and 6 speed V6 models, the 5 speed is only offered on the four-cylinder Tiburons. Just a clarification.
And yes, they do sound magnificent, up there with the best of our CSVTs.

guy at my school has a tibueron...lil 4-banger atx...thinks he's tough as nails, and I hate him...one day I wanna get him to a strip (or a back road ) and run circles around him as I finish the race in reverse...all of course, in my little sedan contour that everyone loves to underestimate

I ran into one on the "(track)" on Fri 8/9/03, and they are fast. It was a black pretty one with the shark fins on the side, and what looked like a borla exhaust, and you see my mods on the bottom (not many). Anyway, he was with me all the way to 3rd gear, but when we shifted to 4th and let it ride to 6k rpms I was 3 car lengths ahead. Seems like they don't have much on the top end.

The 5-speed manual is standard on both the base (I4) and GT (V6) models; the 6-speed manual is an option on the GT only.

I think I was starting to pull on him early third gear, but then we had to stop due to traffic situations at the track. But they are very nice looking and I must say I was extrememly impressed. I hated the old tibbies. They are possibly the ugliest things on the road, other than Azteks. If it weren't a Hyundai it would fess up to it being one of my favorites.

Not true, my friend just bought a '03 Tiburon GT V6 5 speed.
I have driven in it first hand.
