Damn right! DMD- a week or so, sho off-road y- month or so, magnaflow res and mufflers- before or after winter, fidanza flywheel- next spring, headers of some sort- next summer, accusump- next summer. KONIG TANTRUMS- on the way baby! There's obviously other things I could do...maybe some lighter pullies or something. But those are my main concerns for the next year.
Again I'm not sure about his setup on that Tibby, but it sounded very nice. I was glad to actually have a good race with him.
skip the mufflers and y-pipe and get headers first.

Never underestimate your competition. Simple. I don't care what they're driving. I've seen the V6 Tiburons run high 15s to low 16s. In automatic. They're not slow. And judging by most of the track times posted on here, many an SVT would have their hands full. Also, I agree about the sound. The 2.7L in those things sound awesome. A guy working at a gas station cranked his over for me and revved it to redline dead cold. . What an idiot. Just cuz its a neon or a Hyundai, doesn't mean its slow. Race safely. -R-

A guy I work with has one and it is nice but..... He was told by the salesguy a bunch of bunk. Like it has a top speed of 280 kph. He also thinks based on the info he was told that he would completely own me at the track. I'm not the fastest Contour by any means but I still think I would hold out pretty well for a non SVT and if he was a poorer driver than I......

The new Tiburon GTs are nice cars. Leather, moon roof, 6 speed, and they have an eaton supercharger available to them. They have a really nice body design, but for some reason it still looks a little cheap to me. Maybe if you put rims and lowered it, I dunno. They are definately on par with a svt stock for stock, so watch out.

I must disagree with a stock tiburon sound.....I test drove 2 v6 manuals (5 and 6 speed)and the sales man punched it both times...and it was quiet. Now it did have a nice sound, but with the windows up it was hard to hear.....Maybe its just my taste for sound, but thats the way it came off to me.
And i have never had a challange from a tiburon....they were seemed slow .....I have beaten most by 1-2 car lengths in the 1/4 with relativle little modes except open filter. That was back when i first got my SVT in September.
Now with everything i have done, i have yet to test it on them.
Now could those drivers suck, yest its all possible. Could i be better than those divers?? thats possible too....But i thought i would just through out my experiences with them...Also....I use to have one
3.0 SVT hybrid...all the fixens...Track/Race ready very soon!!!!!! 20,000 + miles

I second that! The low-end to midrange torque boost will help alot and if you make sure to change to a straight through resonator and straight through muflers at the same time you'll have pretty good breathing. This is assuming you have an open intake already.

The shop I work at does a lot of work for the Hyundai dealer here in Wichita, and I've driven V6 Tiburons since the day they arrived at the showroom. I would never call them "slow", in fact they are very respectable in terms of acceleration. When I drive one of these, I think they remind me more of my Contour than any other car. Torque feels about the same throughout the tach. I've wanted to run my 'Tour against one for a long time now, but never had the chance. I'd say it'd be a close run between V6 Tibby and V6 Tour. BTW, Hyundai over rated the V6 hp from the factory, it's more like 170. Originally they were saying 180 in the brochures, but that number has come down since they figured out they screwed up. Still pretty stout.

I would go for the headers first. However the y-pipe I plan on buying is used and is only going to run me like $85 plus shipping. So that is kind of a gimme'. Then I HAVE to get a DMD, and that isn't expensive either. I hate the look of my stock exhaust tips, and would really like to have a deeper sound with a little added performance. So it seems as if my wants are aesthetically biased....Plus I just charged those rims on my Visa, and need to wait to pay that balance before I go over my limit with headers. I think MSDS are like $550ish???? Correct me if I'm wrong. It will all come together before I know it. Plus many of you with the modded SVT's have had your cars for years longer than I have had mine(just got it last May). So I feel somewhat patient with my mods list. I really want it to look and sound the way I want before I go for the guts. If we could have kept racing I think I would/could have won. We were approaching the top of third when we both let off, and I was starting to feel a slight pull. Maybe not I don't know...'cause like I said we were shifting at EXACTLY the same time and seemed to have identical response from our engines. I did hit the rev limiter atop second , I think because the sound of both of our cars at WOT threw me off. I tell you what...for any spectators it was a very nice sounding race.

Putting headers on the stock exhaust will not garner you the full gains everyone states.
Headers should be after exhaust (Y-pipe & 2.5" Quasi or true duals) & intake mods in the grand scheme of things.
As for your run in with the Hyundai. They should not be able to keep up with a stock SVT, much less one that is modified unless the driver sucks or the car is running poorly.
Close at first, but only through 1st or 2nd gear. Just like most other like challengers (light weight) in the high 15 range (Gen 3 Z24, Si, SVTF, Celica, etc)
