I kinda assumed you meant the actual power rating was not the highest you would desire & the particular a/d/s/ model was not the newest amplifier available.

Likewise, Mr. dnewman, I did not intend to imply that a/d/s/ underrates their amplifiers.
Perhaps I resorted to a bit of hyperbole when stating they were twice as powerful than more mundane amplifiers.
I would agree with your observation that the latter are usually so overrated that the watts per channel is meaningless.
Also with amplifiers of the quality of a/d/s/ the power available is so remarkably clean & devoid of distortion that it seems to be much more powerful.
