He said it would just cost labor. Figure around $45/hr or so...I'm guessing maybe in the $120 range. Takes about 2 hours for the actual valve body cleaning, etc. National chain garages like to fool around a bit and tack on extra charges, so figure in the lower $100 range somewhere. I wouldn't pay more than that if the tranny was already out of the car. You got it easy. I'll probably end up doing this in the next month or two anyway and forking out $500 or so. The mechanic at Cottman told me he really didn't see the need for a shift kit unless I was CONSTANTLY running the car HARD. I told him need I the "beefing up". With my car being a primary emergency first response vehicle, it gets pushed hard just like an ambulance does, but I guess he just don't understand the CD4E. I told him the Mazda transmission was quite known for it's failure in our Duratec's, but he didn't say a word. So anyway, I'm getting the fluid drained today and he said something about doing a "service check" what ever that means. I guess they put it on their computer or whatever. Hopefully everything is OK. 88,000 and counting w/ no major problems yet *knock on wood*.
