To do it right you have to have air and a way to clean the VB real good. Also, you may be hard pressed to find the VB gasket set. The VB needs to be assembled with the separator plates, gaskets, and accumulator body in precise alignment. There is a tool for this ( I was going to use some long bolts). The actual install is not that difficult but I would recommend getting the CD4E service manual since you have to pull out the valves.

On last thing, the kit comes with a spacer for the 2-3 servo. The directions say to fashion a c-clamp to compress the cover for the installation. Forget it (the c-clamp that is) with my tranny still in the car I used a block of wood and a large lag bolt. I rounded the head of the lag bolt and screwed it into the block of wood. Then place it on the jack and compressed the cover using the jack.

Since my VB had worn bores (needed oversize valves) I ordered a rebuilt and modified VB from transmission exchange company. I would have needed a $300 set of boring bits to install the new valves. The VB was only $275 with exchange.

If you are going to pull the VB with the tranny in the car you have to remove the T-stat housing and associated hoses. Also remove the AC accumulator bracket. And range selector switch or the VB wonâ??t come out.

Good luck
