I have noticed that I am loosing about 2 cups of water a week from my zetec as I have to refill my coolant reservoir every couple weeks. I cannot for the life of me tell where its all going. Its not anywhere on the floor, I can't see any leaks, or collections of water in the engine compartment, and its not in my oil. Anyone have any idea where it maybe going? Thanks,

Hate to piggy back on your post, but I seem to be having the same problem. I'm thinking of replacing the water pump just on general principles....mainly because if it's a slow leak, chances are that it would evaporate/burn off before you can detect it. I mentioned the leak to the dealership when I had my timing belt and catalytic converter replaced ($$) but they didn't see any evidence of leakage.

I was thinking the same thing until I had my water pump replaced a few thousand miles ago, but it still leaks just the same. I also took apart my thermostat housing (to replace the PCV) and resealed it securely to the engine block, didn't slove my problem either.

Try checking the metal tube that runs across the front of the car. It connects to the lower radiator hose and goes over by the thermostat housing. I had that same problem and found there was a small pin hole leak in it!

Go through and check all of your hoses.

I had that same problem and found a pin hole leak in a heater hose( the one that runs across the top of the intake manifold ). It was rubbing on a connector there.

I'm having difficulties finding a leak also, but I'm getting a puddle on the floor just inside the passenger side front tire. The only wetness I see is under the metal tube going to the heater core that runs across the bottom front of the engine (just under the crank pulley). I suppose it could be a pinhole leak in it, but I'm losing quite a bit of coolant. What would I see if the water pump was leaking? I'm seeing no staining that would indicate coolant dripping from the pump, but since it's buried, I'd assume I wouldn't see much anyway.

your freeze plug or block heater (whichever you have) probably has a small crack. its on the middle of the back of the engine and will only leak when the engine is on. also it evaporates when it hits the engine block, so it wont drip.
