And I never got an answer as to why Brullen spend so much time equalizing primary tube length. The distance from exhaust port to manifold outlet is much different between front and rear manifolds...so making primary Y tubes equal length virtually guarentees that exhaust pulses will not be matched..

Not to hijack the thread but....

Your saying that since the distance from the exhaust ports to the manifold outlets on bank 1 are shorter than bank 2, that trying to equal out the length of the downpipe will effect the factory pulse tuning of the exaust?? This makes sense, but I question why the Brullen Y made 4 HP and 4 or 5 lbs/ft of torque more than the Sho-Shop Y???

Interesting discussion.

I wonder how much of the gain comes from a proper non-crushed flange and how much comes from larger diameter tubing of the downpipe. I would love to see a dyno of a properly optimized stock y-pipe and then the Brullen Y to see if there is any difference.

1) Yes I am...
2) The MSDS Y made 4 HP more than SHO Y shop too (see CTA dynos). And THAT is with the V bend in the back primary...if it were mandrel bent it would be even better. And I suspect the reason is that it is pulse tuned (like stock or modified stock which it emulates). IMO, best Y is probably a modified stock with opened up collecter OR MSDS with mandrel bent section in rear primary...

Or like Demon says true duals..the way I would go if I were starting over..

If we could all start over. . .I wish the aftermarket was this big in 1998 for the car, we could've R&D'ed everything so we would know what's good or know at this point. . .BTW, the SHO-Shop ypipe (if you can even get one I heard they're horrible at ordering), is LOUD with the bassani, I'm talking unnerving over long trips. . .
