I had a noise with my zetec ATX when I was coasting (release of accelerator). It sounded like light thumping. It was the engine mounts. The end of the transmission (can be seen from the driver side wheel well) was sitting on the fram of the car. Even after replacing the mounts I noticed that the space was only about a quarter of an inch.

I warn you the 4 mounts are expensive. Two are at 140 dollars each (aftermarket $120). Two other are 80 dollars each (aftermarket 70). Cost me $550 to replace total, labor was 2.5 hours. I used after market parts hope I did the right thing. I noticed that the aftermarket one was made in Korea(I was hoping that they would be the same OEM part without the ford label).

There is much less expensive replacements available..Check out www.rockauto.com. You can buy the rubber inserts for the front and back ones for $20 each. Just remove the part with the round iron circle and replace the guts inside and reinstall. Works great. The other 2 units are replaced in whole but are sure more reasonable that what is listed previously in this thread...Duane Koss/Blue Springs, Mo...

cool thxz man I imagine that all depends on how far you let your mounts go, because if thier to the point where the acutal mount is jacked up well thats another story. I honestly dont know how bad mine are but i do know thier bad.

Stupid me didn't buy the ones on ebay that went for 2 bucks and 10 bucks?!!!!!! I've got the movement when de-cellerating too!

you to huh. when I let off the gas after acceleration it feels like soemthing is hitting the floor board at times and it shifts hard at random times. I know its not the 1-2 bang shift thing.

and where and what part number are we looking at? Are they better than stock new ones? Why?
