Were you the guy in the Yellow Mustang Cobra? If its the Sunoco on Freemansburg Ave outside of Easton, PA then I'm the S/R owner.

Sooo, I decided to ask him some questions about what they come with stock and ended up talking about his times he gets at Englishtown on Sunday night import vs domestics.
15.8 STOCK
15.5 ADJUSTABLE CAM GEAR
15.3 EXHAUST
15.1 ESSLINGER CAMS
??.? HEAD WORK (hasn't run yet)
Not only that but he's looking at a stronger tranny via the Escape with 4.56 gears v/s the stock 4.10's.
I told him straight up what I had on the 'tour (hybrid 3.0L) and said I'd have to break out the Cobra to beat him. I don't think my Contour could hang with his mods and experience.

Just FYI.

Well you got that pretty close. Good memory

1/4 mile times on my Cali emissions 2000 ZX2 S/R.
15.8 stock with 1400 miles on the odometer.
15.3's with a shorty header and AF/X underdrive pulley
15.1's@90 MPH with adjustable cam gears, a shorty header, and AF/X underdrive pulley
15.1's@97 MPH with a 2.7 60' time with a Howell Automotive/Darrel Cox ported head with big valves, Esslinger cams, a shorty header and AF/X underdrive pulley. I have absolutely no traction at the track now, even with drag radials. I just sit there and spin through 1st and part of 2nd gear even when I launch at 2500-2700 RPM. I'm going to need slicks and a stronger diff to put the power to the ground during the launch. Also, the 4.56 gears will help my 1/4 mile times becuase 4th and 5th are both overdrive gears in the ZX2 and the car doesn't pull as well as it could in 4th during the last couple hundred feet of the 1/4.

A ZX2 owner in Cali. with basicaly the same mods I have and a 2.5" cat back exhaust is running 13.9's to 14.2's on slicks. I still have the 1-7/8" crush bent stock S/R exhaust on my car.

From a 60 MPH roll my ZX2 pulls pretty well. On a trip back form Harry's in Allentown with a trunkload of parts to fix my neon, I was able to pull on a friend's stock 5 speed WRX from a 60 MPH roll. At 110 MPH I had a few car lengths on him.

The info given before on the S/R was mostly correct:
2000 ZX2 S/R
Only 2000 produced - 1,000 in Zinc Yellow, 500 in Red, 500 in Black.
Iceman intake
Leather shift boot
B&M Short throw shifter

Visteon PCM with no speed limiter and tuned for 91+ octane
Tokico Struts
Eibach Pro Kit Spring
Energy Suspension Bushings
Energy Suspension Engine moutn inserts
Borla exhaust - just a muffler on stock pipes.
S/R wheels
205/55ZR15 Goodyear Eagle F1 Steel tires
Rear disc brakes
Silver gauge surround
150 MPH/240 KPH speedometer
Ford Racing Blue valve cover
S/R badges and stickers
143 HP@5750 RPM 146 lb-ft of torque@4500 RPM for the Cali emissions models.
146 HP@5750 RPM 150 lb-ft of torque@4500 RPM for the 49 state emissions models.

On a side note, I had a 1998 5 speed ZX2 that was 49 state emissions, not Cali emissions. It ran a 15.8@88.4 MPH bone stock at Island Dragway in NJ on a 80 degree day with ~75% humidity. The fastest I've witnessed a stock regular model 5 speed ZX2 run the 1/4 was a 15.6 and the fastest stock non Clai emissions S/R ran a 15.4 in the 1/4.
