Ouch. Still have chest soreness once in a while and that was over 2 years ago.

still have the accident pics? I remember the one of the 80ft long black streaks that end half way around both sides of the tree.

Right. Either it was a freakishly slow zetec or a freakishly fast (or misbadged) civic. My zetec doesn't have a problem hanging with slightly modified civics.

ok, "lost" was not the correct term. He was infront of me and the first in line at a stoplight. It turned green and he took off surprisingly quick, so just for the fun of it I decided to follow. And I can honestly tell you I had a decently hard time keeping up with it. No it was not misbadged (dont know who would put "electic hybrid" badges on their car to make it look slower anyways ), it was some grey haired guy. Hardly the type to misbadge a civic. But don't worry, I opened the hood and gave the gerbal spinning the wheel a treat for working so hard.

hell no I almost bought an SVT because I wanted another tour with an MTX but decided not to cause I didn't wanna mess with all their issues, and the dealer was more than willing to keep droping the price on it to get rid of it. he went form $11,000 down to $8,500 on a 99 SVT, and I'm sure if I would of stayed there he would of dropped it more.

besides what's SOOOO special about a SVT contour.... NOTHING.

HOW THE F@$k can you compare the car to the CSVT. maybe you should start your own thread of how a awd turbo cosworth escort is faster then any CSVT

1 wasn't saying JUST you or that you had ever said that but that is the feeling of 9 out of 10 SVT owners on here.
2 have you ever been in a contour with a Zetec that wasn't a stock ATX??? I bet you would be suprised. Buckshot was when he rode in my car
3 how can I compare the AWD Escort you an SVT well as you said it's just an escort... but fine you want just a front wheel drive escort GT with a cossie motor in it.... it's still a little 1.9 so it can still put down to the ground 300-400hp and more than enough TQ but if you wuld like to stick with the 2.0 Zetec how about the latest cossie 2.0 that dynoed at a weak 528 WHP... but you know it's still just a Focus. or lets take the Esslinger ZX2 that they did to show ford what they had up their sleeves which is why all the ford racing stuff is actually Esslinger products they made a plain jane escort FWD do a 9 second quarter, no turbo no super charger no bottle all MOTOR only thing they did was put in a roll cage and some racing seats, but guess that's "just and escort"

so what I have been trying to say is you and most everyother SVT owner looks down on the Zetec since the day we started getting SVT owners on the boards and mailing list yeah I've been on the sinte since 1997 when I bought my car... would you get a little bitter if you showed up at an SVT experiance weekend and had all the cobra and lighting guys saying well you only drive a duratec so it couldn't be fast? not saying the duratec is a bad motor or anything just I will never own one infact as soon as I find another pre 98 contour MTX with a Zetec it will be mine and then I will goto town on internals on this car.

Why is it that when Zetec owners stick up for our engine that we have issues?

Tell me about it. No love for the Zetec. But it amazes me....SleeperZ for example is running as good as most of the s/c or nitrous fed SVTs on nitrous. N/A he is running with the N/A non SVT Duratecs. OH well.

read about half of the thread, and first I wanna ask if this race ever happened? shouldn't be an issue, the contour should wipe the floor with the zx2. my dad has a 99 (?) stock mtx zx2, I drive a 95 SE mtx (v6 2.5L) contour. my clutch blew out earlier this year so I used my dad's car for a few weeks (and again when the AC went to hell) and I can only say that with the exception of 1st gear, my contour was much faster. the zx2 will pick up a bit quicker in 1st, but after that it's zip is gone.
