I own a stock 2000 ZX2 manual, and I can say they are pretty peppy (people are pretty surprised when they drive it). I don't know about it taking a Tour though. Maybe an automatic Zetec, but I don't think it will run with an automatic Duratec. Just my thoughts.

An ATX duratec is about the same quarter time as a MTX Zetec contour and the ZX2 is 400lbs lighter with the same engine.... guess which would be faster
and I do agree with you about how everyone on here think ooh it's a little 4 banger it can't be as fast as it really is, and there is no way it could even come close to my SVT cause it is an SVT

Depending on his intake and exhaust it could come down to how well he can shift and how well you can shift.

Umm no. Buddy had a ZX2 S/R. I had intake and exhaust beck then. Killed him.
right and you were modified to though right? Again quick but won't beat a V6 tour just come closer than most might think. As well should be to close to call if the Tour is an ATX.
ATX = Automatic MTX = manual.

ATX duratec tour runs upper 16's low 17's an MTX ZX2 runs mid 16's not as close as you think.

With your mods and him just having an exhaust, you'll be fine.
But to set the record straight:
My brother has a 99 ZX2 (not an S/R). Bone stock, he ran a 16.3 and I ran it to 16.0.
With an intake and exhaust, he was in 15.7 range.
Now, with an intake, header, exhaust and pulley, he has ran his best of 15.5.
All on 17" wheels.
Why is hard to believe that the ZX2 is a pretty close match? I've seen times from unexperienced SVT drivers with equal or slower times!
I don't think it's one of the "special" ones, but here's a pic.

Thank you. That is what I was trying to get across. Just didn't have the hard numbers.
