You have to change the accumulator, orifice tube and on some cars the condenser if it canâ??t be flushed. This is because the accumulator is part of the oil supply for the pump and both the accumulator and condenser will be filled with fragments from the old compressor. The orifice tube will be clogged also. I would guess around $800, judging from your description of the heat in your area itâ??s could be worth it. Most good autoparts stores have the parts if you want to DIY. Just remember that the system is still under pressure and if you get 134 in your eyes you will go blind. And donâ??t vent the gas into the atmosphere (EPA disclaimer).

After the parts are installed the system will have to be evacuated for at least 1 hour to remove moisture before recharging.
