Please to GOD everyone tell me when you all speak of 5 x 7's and 6 x9's you are talking about plate speakers and not actually those old piece of **** oval speakers with a tweeter in the middle.

My suggestion, don't get oval speakers. The plates are OK, seperates are much better.

yep my kenwood excelon 6x9s are the oval kind with two tweeters in the center. they hit lower than just the mid-base regions. i got one of those frequency test cds that covers the whole range all the way down.. my system sounds plenty beefy down below 30 Hz... i think the bottom rating from the factory is either 25 or 28 Hz.. just lettin ya know it can be done! peace,

Jake

stevebassen - please tell us how the naks sound. I was seriously considering them or MB Quart reference or dsd series. How much did you pay?

I paid $140-150 for mine from TheZeb.com. I bought the last pair they had I've yet to install them, I probably won't have time to this weekend. I probably should have them done next weekend. From what I hear they're an excellent set, although the tweeters have been described as overly bright/unnatural (I doubt I'll notice).
