Yeh, one of many situations where a left-handed friend is useful. 
BTW, perry referred me to this thread via a PM, front pad how-to , but unfortunately the pic, Fig 2.3a from Haynes manual, only shows spring removal which is never a problem. Ford manuals, of course, simply advise install spring clip.
