Has anyone tried using front headrests to the back? Drilling holes on the backshelf would make the headrests too close to the rear windshield. I'm wondering what parts would be required to install them directly to the rear seats.

I think you care too much about rear seat passengers.

good idea, but just remember that they might get in the way if you fold down the seats.

The rear seat sits up pretty high already. Not much point in a headrest.

i think that he's going more for the look aspect than the function. personally i like cars with rear seat headrest, and when you fold the seat down all you have to do is take them outand place them on the floor. let us know how it worls out for you...

You would need a new rear seat frame (next to impossible unless you are a master welder), new rear seat foam (even closer to impossible) to go around that new frame, headrest post collars to go into the metal sleeves on the newly built frame, and matching headrests. You will need to apply a light coating of liquid silicone on the headrest posts to lubricate the collars. You could probably get away with using the stock upholstery if you are comfy with cutting the holes in the top.
That's how it's done in our plant.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I wanted to add the headrests to the rear for purely aesthetic reasons. I've bought two SVT headrests since they were lower and more round than the Mystique headrests.

Seems like I wasted money at this point on this project. I'm thinking that I might just drill holes in the back shelf and just have the headrests rest in place.

I don't know if this applies to CDW27s but, a fellow SHOguy just took two front head rests (with the bars that go into them) and slide them (the bars) behind the rear passener seat. Looks great!!! If you want to know what they look like go to SHOforum.com and search for SHO2NV.

Yeah, looks great... until you get in an accident and you have 2 "padded" spikes flying at your head... maybe you'll get lucky and get hit with the padded side, but maybe not... either do it safely and properly or don't do it.
