Tell you what Tom.

Let's switch cars for a couple weeks then. I figure after the first week you'll be tired of my slow NA 2.5L and put a turbo on it.

Honestly, I want to do another one to try out some ideas but I want to use someone else's money.

I have ideas that would make a kit doable for about half the price.

I finally got my redline fluid in two days ago. I changed the fluid today. I drained the GL-5 fluid out and then I used some standard ATF to clean out the gear oil. I ran the car a little while at idle, in forward and reverse gears to circulate and mix with any remaining GL-5 fluid. Then I drained that too.
Afterwards I added about 2.5 quarts of Redline MTL. It sort of smells like a gear oil but is thinner, almost like ATF. However it feels much more...oily I guess, slicker than standard ATF.
Now I have noticed that the transmission sounds the same as with the GL-5 fluid, that is to say QUIET!
With the ATF+ 2oz of FM in it it was noisy and sounded like it was grinding away. When I drained the ATF there was a fine metalic sheen to it from hard part wear though it was a new diff so that is going to happen anyway.
Anyway, the fluid is the correct type and so far I still do not hear any noise so I feel really good now.

Ok, I spoke too soon.
I do hear the noises again now that I have had the fluid in there for two days. I am really bummed.
I went about 10 days with the synthetic GL-5 fluid and I didn't hear anything, now with the MTL I am starting to hear the same groaning noises in tight turns.
The high pressure additives in the GL-5 really made a difference I guess, but the MTL looks and felt pretty good.
Why is it making noise now? It is not as bad as with standard ATF, but I'm going to give it a couple of days of city driving to be sure of a fair comparison. Then if it still makes noises I'm gonna start getting pissed off and calling Torsen about the unit.
You can't actually blame the install because if it was done improperly it would make noise in straight-line driving. Only having noise in tight turns with a recommended fluid indicates it is something internal within the diff. The fact that it was fine with GL-5 fluid makes me even more suspicious.

What do you experts think about this???

Ok, I'll reply to myself and add todays results. It really was overall very quiet. In fact while it was hot it didn't make any noise and the noise that I did hear was in the morning while it was cool. This is exactly opposite what I was hearing before when the ATF was in there. Oh well, if it doesn't make any more noise than it has, then I guess its ok.
At this point there doesn't seem to be any other reason to change anything so I'm gonna run with the MTL and leave the trans alone till it wears out normally or I blow something.
(knock on wood)
If anything major happens I'll post it.

You really suck.

Nothing has happened and I think I am calmer now. Another day and my morning drive to and from work for PT...no noise.

I wouldn't know about 8 grand, I can barely make my car surpass 7 grand. I thought I was supposed to get 7400 rpm shift point with the chip, but it seems that it never changed at all even though they programmed it. Oh well, I have enough power as it is, I'll reserve the 8 grand for you so you can break 200 wHP......at least before we team up to to 3L it or Turbo it. Or both

OOOOOH OH! Pick me! Pick me!

[on bended knee] Please God, let Tom bestow his knowledge upon me and a 3.0L engine for my car. [/on bended knee]
