I was thinking about using the Mobil 1 gear oil myself before I switched to Redline MTL. After a bit of research I found out all that lovely information.
Also great info on why ATF (original U.S. MTX-75 fill ) is absolutely piss-poor to run in a manual transmission too (I.E high failure rate if the fluid is not changed frequently - I.E. 1 year tops) Stuff like that...




You know whats funny, I remember reading that damn thread now that I look at it again. I just wasn't in the market for fluid at the time.
I guess it went through my steel sieve of a brain.

Either way, I have to locate a dealer who sells it locally or order it online, then I'll change the fluid. It shouldn't take but a few days if I have to order it.
Too bad the local AutoZone doesn't carry it.

I still wanted to see the actual references that talk about GL-5 eating up the soft metals. I mean reading a post on here is good, but better to see a solid reference.
