I thought that it was a givin on a worn MTX75, it would need some ATF+3 & 2 oz of FM to try to stretch out any hiding life in it. I would like to see how MTL does on a worn/grinding trans though...... More testing on the MTX75's options

I tried mobil one synthetic gear oil, 75w-90 and it is shifting great both hot and cold. NO friction modifier just straight synthetic. I was having way too much noise in mu Torsen with dino fluid + friction modifier and when I changed it there was an immediate difference...for the better.

OUCH!!!
Mobil 1 gear oil is a GL-5 oil not suitable for transmissions!
It's chalk full of high pressure additives that are highly corrosive to the soft metals in a transmission. It will tear up your syncros, blocker rings, etc...
By all means flush out your tranny ASAP!!!

Demon what do you reccomend for reducing noise? My Quaife is as loud as H-E-Double hockeysticks and annoying as can be. I have some MTL in the garage I just need to change it but do you think it would just be louder?
I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

Damn, where did you learn that? I haven't heard of this but I wish I had. If I just wasted $23-$25 I'm going to be pissed.
Well, It'll have to wait until later this week, I'm just too busy at work.

I do not think it will quiet the loudness of the Quaife LSD very much because the gear noises you hear are from them being pressed against the case. (How the Quaife works by design and why it requires a forged casing)
Yes "theoretically" the fully synthetic MTL should help some due to it's better sheer stability & lubrication properties.

What about the 'gear rollover' noise? Thanks to Torsion Rick I don't think my quaife is the culprit like I thought. See post "how loud are other's LSD's" I think she's suffering from bad gear rollover. When I overfilled it that first 4000 miles by .5 qt it seemed a lot quieter versus the 2 qts I run now.
