I can answer this one.
Sure, Bush has raised more money as an individual candidate, but lets look at all the money going into the 2004 presidential race so far...
http://www.opensecrets.org/presidential/index.asp
Bush has raised about $35.1M
The top 3 Dems in the list:
John Kerry (D) $16,028,266
John Edwards (D) $11,936,277
Howard Dean (D) $10,545,457
I add that up as about $38.4 million and there are another 7 Dems on that list, for (just some quick math in my head) for another ~ $27 Million.
so tell me, who is it again that is raising so much money?

Your arguements are well-thought out yet the subject in hand has been strayed from. I simply said that i think addressing his next campaign instead of addressing things like child abuse is ridiculous. Children all accross the country have been left in cars to overheat to death. Show me where hes addressed this issue? Show me what hes gonna do for those innocent victims? Show me where he is gonna enforce a stricter punishment for people who beat rape and kill their children. Show me in the last week where he has addressed this nation-wide problem? Yes his campaign and deciding if gay marriage should be legal takes a back seat to these poor helpless victims. Ya money makes the world go round but it doesnt make those children come back now does it?

Ahhh, I though killing, raping, and beating was already against the law?? And punished fairly harshly in most cases (we cook em here in Virginia)..
Really I think if punishment is light in some cases it is more of a Judicial issue...ie very Liberal judges in most cases. The laws exist, it is the interpretation that may be flawed. FYI..Bush is TRYING hard to get some Judges approved for the various circuit courts but the Dems have been philabustering/blocking the nominations pretty agressively..

So seems to me you are in favor of harsh penalties. So what about the death penalty for these folks. Seems President Bush was govenor of a state that had no problems with executing those that killed.
Of course, I disagree that crimes like the ones you speak of are a federal issue. Let the governors of those states address those issue, and let the President do his #1 job of being commander-in-chief of the military.
Search my posts here and you will find that I don't think the federal government should have much, if any role in the everyday citizens life, most everything can be handled at the local level.
So I guess I'm with you in a way, let's get this out of the President's or any other leader at the Federal level and let each state decide what it wishes to define as marriage.
TB I notice no comment on the fund raising issue you mentioned...

Ok let me get this straight. Its the presidents job to tell gay people they cant get married but its not his job to help to ensure children are safe???? I think its every americans job to make sure our children are safe.

I'm a catholic as well Speed Demon, not a practicing one , but the higher ups have been protecting thier own. Living in SE MI there seems to be too many stories about the molesting of young alter boys for my taste, I mean one is to many IMO I mean these guys have gotta know whats going on, come on man. That being said though, its funny they take prayer out of school but legalize gay marriage, are we nearing the end
