Thats pretty cool to have one of the first 50 ever made. Let alone 30. I thought I was pretty cool for having one of the first 100 (#95 out 6535). But nope there is someone cooler out there. He has number 30. I would like to see what happened to those very early test cars or who owns them now.

BTW, maybe this is common knowledge to some, but how did you manage to come by such an early car??
Biggest things were the fuel filler neck TSB, inoperative rear defroster, and warped rotors @ about 20K mi. The filler neck and defroster were taken care of pretty soon after I bought it. I haven't noticed any differences in assembly or any weird parts or anything compared to later ones.

I bought it in June of '98 from a dealer. The car had about 7500 mi. on it and had been a demo. I didn't know it was an early one until I called SVT after buying it.

I've heard stories about the pre-production test cars - one guy told me his neighbor was a Ford engineer and had a BLUE SVT for a while. I think Ford should have offered them in that color.

I bought mine from a dealer in late July 98. It only had 444 miles on it. They said it had been trucked everywhere and they had it sitting in a back garage, covered, behind the dealership for 6 months. The owner wouldn't let anyone drive it because he knew it was the first one available to the public. The 29 before mine he said had been touring models for car shows & magazines. #'s 30-50 were issued to dealers around the country as the first production models available to the public. Most were driven by the dealership's and sold as demo's. Wierd huh.

And to think I was going to buy a Durango that day but the Dodge dealer pissed me off. The Ford dealer was next door and I saw a bright yellow Mustang SVT. I test drove that and wanted to buy it. While waiting for the back to come through the owner came up to me as asked me if I wanted to test drive a new SVT. I drove a silver one they just got in, it was awesome but I hate silver. I asked him if he had any other colors...he said I have a Black one in the back. The rest is history.

I have #507. I know that Vadim's SVT (shoshop) is a "showspec" tagged car. I just don't know the build number.
