Biggest things were the fuel filler neck TSB, inoperative rear defroster, and warped rotors @ about 20K mi. The filler neck and defroster were taken care of pretty soon after I bought it. I haven't noticed any differences in assembly or any weird parts or anything compared to later ones.
I bought it in June of '98 from a dealer. The car had about 7500 mi. on it and had been a demo. I didn't know it was an early one until I called SVT after buying it.
I've heard stories about the pre-production test cars - one guy told me his neighbor was a Ford engineer and had a BLUE SVT for a while. I think Ford should have offered them in that color.
