Ok... All I need is technical support as well as installation help (in case things work out) for this TURBO project.

I just met some people overseas with Zetec 1.8 turboed. And the cost of this thing IS MUCH lower than what people been asking here in the USA. I am talking about $500 for a kit with manifolds and the turbo. And that made me think about buying this kit and installing it on my car.

First problem is: I have no experience installing turbos. I would need some help from you guys. Second problem is, the manifolds must be customized. I already have a place that does that, but I am not sure how the manifold should be.

Before I get in too much details, I want to know if someone if TURBOs experience could help me out. I first gonna need help buying the proper KIT and later on I will INDEED need help installing it.

I am serious... I was talking to this guy with the Zetec 1.8 and with only 0.7Kg I could get easily 200HP. Hell... they have someone with a 1 liter engine puling more than 300HP.

I was reading more about it and the big problem are:

custom exhaust manifold and cat.

custom intake

and the biggie: installing and adjusting the thing.

No.. the kits HAVE THOSE.... but they want to TAKE A LOOK at the engine... kinda of impossible... to make sure it would fit.

Actually, they do have kits for the mondeo & focuses, but I am not sure HOW would they fit in a contour.

Thing is, I am getting lost on all these info/readings I am doing on that. I should ask for pictures so then I could ask you guys if it would fit.

I'd suggest you get the mondeo 2.0L kit then (and seriously get one for me too). It SHOULD bolt all up, but atleast modification would be minimal if it didn't. Engine management probably isn't included with these kits, so plan on a custom chip burn, possibly larger fuel injectors and/or fuel pump.

Yes... thats what I want. But I don't want to save money on parts and then have to pay $1,500 to have it installed. That would defeat the purpose of having a cheap turbo.

That's why I am here, trying to find an ally on this project.

i seriously need someone that knows about turbos and that could (hopefully) help me install it.

And the engine management, you are right. some manufacturers talk about re-burn the chip... this other company sells some crazy box that supposedly manages the whole thing... I don't know... I am trying to get more info right now....

I'd say if you do the kit...get another stock manifold and try to have that fitted with the turbo. AS for fuel, new injectors and a custom burnt chip would be a cheap and effective way....cam gears wouldn't hurt either.

For that little boost I think that would work good.

It has to be little boost... two main reasons:

1) I don't know how to really adjust it
2) It has to be reliable.

what do u mean by get another stock manifold ?? A stock monifold for the Contour ??? Like from a junk yard ???? {by the way... anyone has pictures of the manifold ?? }

you mean get a old stock manifold from a junk yard and play with it ??? Take pictures and send them to work it out ??

Well you would adjust boost pressure through the wastegate (if you can) if no you would have to buy a boost controller. But if it is a kit it should be set at a safe boost level for a N/A car.

As for the stock manifold it would be cheaper alternative to having a custom manifold made and would be sufficient for the amount of boost you'd be running. Plus it is nice and short, where the cat sits is where you could mount the turbo, and just relocate the cat (as you can see I have been planning). Not only that it is cast, which would hold up to the higher manifold temps of the turbo much better.
