Ummm, that isn't saying much. Mustangs don't handle worth a [censored].

BTW, I think the Mach 1 and Bullet Mustang guys would be arguing with you about that comment too.

That is pretty cool! Getting to drive the Glen in your "Tour", I'm jealous.

Who mentioned anything about an '03 Cobra? They would be drastically better with the supercharger and independant rear suspension.

But your always welcome to bring one out to make sure!

Do you say that for insurance purposes?

I was at Sebring for an SVTOA event and the 03s would pull me real good in the straight ( about an extra 10mph), but I was underneath in the turns. Now the non supercharged 01's and 02's couldn't pull me in the straights, we would stay dead even until the turn. And then you've got the Foci and the straights were even worse.

I'll be up at the Glen for the Zippo in the first week of September if anyone is going. It's a Mark Donohue reunion, IMSA GTP and American Muscle car reunion. Usually 500+ racecars. We'll be running a black and gold Chevron B-16, even though nobody probablly knows what that is. PM me if you're going to be there.

I think you well your dad are the guy my friend talked to. He said he talked to a guy said his son brings his SVT and runs even with him. My friends name is dave, he drives a green 01 GT, 17" wheels, bullitt suspension racing harness'...etc. He's going up there again soon. He also gave me pictures of an SVT he saw there in the parking lot...looked like mille migle rims and a wing on the back (aftermarket). Ovbiously that one isn't yours lol!

Actually I fare really good against the Mustangs. It is just about what the other post said. I have some trouble keeping up with them in the straights, but easily catch most of them in the turns. My father brings his 97 Cobra (4.6L DOHC 300hp) up there with me and we pretty much run neck in neck. I can stay out in front of him and he can do the same. I usually dance around behind him in the turns and then watch him pull me ( not too much ) in the straights. The power band and gearing of the car is really perfect for that track.
Once I get past a 5.0L Mustang, most of the time I can leave them behind. In the group that I have been running in, the strongest competition has been another SVT with some suspension upgrades.
But let's not forget this is just a driving school

There has been another silver SVT at the event the last couple years with aftermarket wheels and a rear spoiler. He runs really well too, we have run together and it is a lot of fun. I think my father and I were the only father son combination there, so it must have been us your friend talked to.
The last time I checked the web site there was one spot left for the novice group. Check this link http://www.smcrinc.org/glen_event_frame.htm for futher info. but also click on the "Garage Bay and Run Group Status" to check for open spots.
I would love to see a big showing of SVTs one of these years, it would be a blast.
As far as the driving school remark goes, yes it is for the insurance companies, but the guys who run the event also stress this point too. They won't just cut you lose on the track without a fair amount of training and there are instructors available at all times. I usually take an instructor along for at least one session to help fine tune my skills.

Thanks for all the interest!

I can certainly back-up Marty's comments about it being a blast. I'm the other SVT Contour(with the wing) that runs the events and I am already pumped for this year's event.

I'm glad to know that you are going back, Marty. See you at the Glen.
