Just got my build # from SVT - 509 of 6535 ('98). Seems like a pretty early build. Who is under that? Does anyone know where #1 is? Does SVT keep that one?

Toadster - I hadn't seen the list in a while. You've done an awesome job with it.
not-so-newsvt - By the time Ford started numbering SVTs, they were full production models intended for sale. All tests, etc. were completed with pre-production, non-numbered units. #1 might have gone to a Ford exec or something, but no one seems to know at this point. The first 50 SVTs, while production models, were partially completed by hand and heavily scrutinized. They were used in auto shows, as media test vehicles, and as demos.

You have the "HAND SPEC" badge under the hood somewhere, don't you? I got to drive pre-production Lincoln LSes a while back. They had big stickers under the hood declaring that it was a violation of federal law to sell the car to the general public, blah blah. Pretty sure they were CP (Confirmation Prototype) vehicles. Still had some bugs - they broke the lugs on the ONLY MTX there that day, so I was driving slushboxes all afternoon.

I need to call that number but that guy I bought mine from said it was one of first 300 hundred ever built...not sure of the exact number.

So, Viss. Have you ever had a problem w/ your SVT considering how much QC it likely had?
BTW, maybe this is common knowledge to some, but how did you manage to come by such an early car??
