my brother and i just changed the water pump on my 96....
he did most of the work, and he said it's fairly easy, but expect to spend all day on it (he's very experienced and we had it done in 3-4 hours). you have to jack up the engine and remove the upper engine mount, which on my car required a impact to get it loose. then you have to remove the serpentine and the water pump pulley, then take off all the plastic covers. then you remove the water pump. install is reverse of removal....
this is just a vauge guide, you might need air tools. also while you are in there, if the timing belt hasn't been changed in a while, you might want to buy a timing belt kit (NOT JUST THE TIMING BELT, get the pullies/tensioner with it.... $175 at o'reilly's) and replace the serpentine as well.
