Are you calling me an "ass"? I had no idea I could possibly strike a personal cord with my post.

So, what...you're bothered that the deer can't shoot back? Hey, they didn't evolve thumbs, so they're lower on the food chain.

Tikka makes a quality rifle. I've never owned one, but I've friends who do. Simmons doesn't excite me, I'm a wierdo about optics though. I peep through a Leupold.

Nice purchase.

If he sees it the way I do it's like this.

I'll put it in terms that everyone here can understand.

Ok, you pull up to a stop light and beside you is a Ferrari Enzo and you have a 1/4 mile of road ahead of you before the next light. Light turns green and you gun it like a bat out of hell, get there before him and brag that you just beat a Ferrari Enzo. After all you were racing, right? Maybe so, but was the driver of the Enzo racing you...I think not.

So convert this to a hunting situtation, your out hunting deer, sitting in your tree stand all camouflaged and you fire a shot at an UNUSPECTING deer. Now, was that deer hunting you? No, just like the Enzo, it was simply there, so you "gunned" it. If you insist on hunting deer, why not make it an even match? Strap a pair of antlers on your head and fight on their terms. Sucks doesn't it?

And now for something more on topic to the original post...

Who needs a rifle anyway, a V6 on a foggy night is all it takes.

No but if the Enzo was as aware of his surroundings as deer are, it would try to "run away", just like a deer. The game of it all is to beat the Enzo before he knows what is going on...

So if I were to see you on the street and suddenly start beating the ever living [censored] out of you, it's ok? After all I was just doing it before you had a chance to.

Yeah friggin dear, let them run wild.
Just so then can run into my mondeo at 70mph and bend the bonnet, smash the headlight loose the grill, break one
headlight washer, smash the washer bottle and bend the slam panel.
And then its illegal to pick it up, but not illegal for the
next car to come along and pick it up ? HUH

Friggin dear......

I don't think you see deer attacking other deer, so your argument is invalid...The sport comes from attempting to overcome the deer's huge speed, sensory, and intelligence advantages with the use of a tool. So, if I was much faster, more alert, and more skilled at evasion, it would probably be ok for you to sneak up on me :P .

A long time ago I used to have the mentality that hunting was wrong and all that crap. A few things have changed my mind in the last few years about hunting and firearms. One, in the words of Ted Nugent "If you want to eat, something has to die." Two, take a walk through a meat processing plant, and you'll be more than happy from that point on to know that when you hunt your prey dies with more dignity and less pain (if you hunt correctly) and you know what conditions your food has just been through. Three, you get to experience the great outdoors instead of the stale air of a grocery store.

Ted Nugent may seem like a crazy, whacked-out rockstar with something to prove, but he has a lot to teach people about hunting. Like how he feeds his family entirely on the game he kills on his land, how he promotes hunting and general gun safety, how he sponsors programs to donate hunting kills to feed the hungry, and how he works with kids to give them a life with guns for hunting, instead of guns for killing each other.

If/when I go hunting this fall, I will be getting all of my kills processed (that is, if any butchers are accepting deer meat this year due to CWD) and what I don't take home I plan on donating to local soup kitchens.

The leupold line of scopes are fantastic, nice choice. Some of the lower end simmons aren't that great but this their top of line whitetail expedition and I must say it seems very impressive. I've read great reviews about this scope so I look forward to trying it out soon. It's a 3-9 X42 WA. No I don't hunt alligators in FL I'm traveling to tomahawk Wisconsin in november to hunt deer. Thx for the comments.
