Need some help.

Lately my passenger front window has been really slow to roll up. (power windows).

This weekend it decided not to go up at all. It goes down just fine but I have to pull up on it to get it back up.
I have sprayed the channel with silicon spray but it doesn't help. Doesn't matter which window button I use, same results every time.

I haven'thad time to pull the door apart yet, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this sort of problem and if so how did you fix it.

Sounds like the little clamp thign that the window sits in or bolts in is busted on one side or lose. You might want to try retighting the bolts a little and see what happens.

I've been too damn busy. Haven't had time to try anything yet.
With my luck as soon as I fix it something else will break.
I might just leave it busted.
If I do fix it I'll let you guys know what worked though.

My passenger side window does the same thing. I noticed that it tilts and so it locks up. straightening it out allow it to go back up again. I guess I have to take the door cover off and tighten the loose part.

mine does the same thing. Wel I tighted the thign that the window sits on and it works for a little bit then its lose again. So I gota get soem lock washers or sotmhing on that thing.

Well I finally found some time to tear the door apart.
It appears that the brain trust at Ford decided that a gear and a toothed track for the power windows operation was too simple of a set up.
They came up with this wonderful one peice cable system with lots of plastic guides to break and springs to stretch out of shape.
The plastic guide at the top of the window motor is broken and crush almost to unrecognizable.
It would seem that I will have to replace the cable some how.
I think that I have to remove the whole assembly ( motor, cable and window track) in one piece and then replace the cable with everything out of the car.
Has anybody done this before? How much trouble? Any idea of cost of the part?
Any input would be appreciated.

i saw a set of "retrofit" kits (came out of a working 4 power window mondeo wagon they parted out) on ebay.co.uk once for like 100 pounds or so.

and, my passenger window does the same thing, no other one, just the one.

and i see you have a teal contour..... probly the same color as mine, and NO V6 i see. i'm on a hunt for a teal V6 contour. i spotted a teal V6 mystique once....

I went to a Ford dealer today to get a price.
I knew I was in trouble when the guy behind the counter almost swallowed his tongue.

$327.50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just for the part.

Anybody got a parts car with power windows??????????
