Fabreeze is a temporary fix. You may need to shampoo your carpets - not too big a deal. When done, spray them & under your seat with some Lysol. You may need to do that a couple of times.

The intake vent can be sprayed with Lysol too. This will give your car a nice fresh scent which will be kinda strong at first, but it'll dissipate after a couple of days.

The Lysol in the intake vent works well for cars that have been driven by smokers. It takes a couple of treatments for heavy smoke deposits, but it has worked for me.
