The Duratec was designed around 1990 & debuted in a 1991 prototype.

First production Duratec was early 92 for 93 model year Mondeo's. Only the Contours waited until late 94 to be built...

Demon, the 1st production of the Duratec at Cleveland Engine Plant #2 began in April 1994.

I know the US build date was in 1994.
