You're applying impact force at 90 degrees to the engineered stress angle on your BEARINGS. Considering that they are resting on an aluminum block, it might be a potential source of damage. Also, rather than just prying the pulley off, they make special pullers to avoid lateral stresses on the crank shaft & its bearings when removing the crank pulley. That's clue #1.
Did you damage your engine/bearings/crank? Probably not. Could you have? Yep. I just saw the post about impact on the crank & thought it would be responsible for me to post about the potential dangers of this & offer an alternative.
Seriously, glad you got it on & are enjoying the car! I can see how these would make a bigger difference in the MTX cars - especially those with light weight flywheels. It just didn't make a big difference in my V-6 SE ATX. Oh well, I bought piece of mind for under $50.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I used the correct puller to get it off (same make and model as the DMD how to used) As for putting it back on, I only tapped it (lightly at that) until it went on far enough for the old bolt/washer to be used as a pusher. To be quite honest though, Id be all kinds of suprised if you let Ford do it, if they werent using the "bang it on" method.

I've done a search on this. DMD....now, seems like it has made a world of a difference for the SVT's. How about for the ATX's? Anyone with ATX's with any stories and experiences on how much better this upgrade was?
There is a "tictictictictictic" noise that is there but not violently loud once the engine is revved past 4k RPM's. What is that due to? First thing in my mind was, timing belt? nope, it's a chain in these cars right?
It's only heard when the engine is revved hard from like 1st & 2nd gears while the secondaries kick in..
Any suggestions? I don't yet, but would upgrading to a DMD solve this issue? I don't really hear it while driving normally so it's not a huge issue.
Just want to give myself a heads up once it becomes a 'have to'.
thanks in advance.

DMD would not solve this.
It's either something driven on the serpentine belt or the belt itself. OR, a rod end bearing is going out in the engine. I hope it is not that -- it would mean it is time for a new engine.

Never hammer on crank from side as this WILL damage the thrust bearing in most cases. Crank cannot handle hammering from side (90 degrees as stated). It was designed to take the beating the other way, turning, with the pressure through the connecting rods which are riding on a film of oil at the bearings.

Well mine seems to be fine, I guess I must have a magic hammer...like thor. Besides, i have a warranty until 75k miles, if it goes Ford can replace it for me free of charge.

And so suppose you just took SOME life out of it now and it winds up failing after 80,000 miles, then your warrantee wont get you very far Just saying, try to be more careful with things you may not understand about on your car. You probably DID get lucky on yours

Dude, Get Bent. Dont tell me what i do and dont know about cars. You dont have an SVT, your crankshaft is completely different (not forged, ie much weaker). I didn't "bang it on" I tapped it a couple times to get it flush. And if i damaged it, Id know about it by now. Damage to a high stress component like that doesnt go unnotticed long.

SVT crank is the same exact peice as the stocker - it's just hand selected for tighter tolerance limits.
Banging or tapping on the crank is a very bad idea - yours is probably okay but it sure would suck to dislodge the rear main seal or damage a bearing while trying to improve the longevity of your engine!
