Well, yesterday I went ahead and installed a DMD on my car.

Now to be honest, I was probably the most sceptical on this site about the marvels this pulley had in terms of taming the NVH of the engine.

My doubts were furthered still by the fact that I have solid motor mounts (urethane filled, or ES inserts) all around, so the feedback is even more pronounced and harsher in the cabin.

Well, I bought one and threw it in on a whim, and I must say, WOW! THe engine is soo much smoother, it feels like a new car! I am falling in love with my car all over again!

Just wanted to share... any comments, experiences welcome...

exactly my reaction when I placed the DMD in my SVT.
Especially considering I went from a UDP - which at high revs was just very "violent" - compared to the smoothness of the DMD.

Glad you're falling in love with your car again!

I installed one on Tuesday afternoon in my SE - automatic.

The difference seemed minimal to me. I read somewhere that the internals of my ATX act as a damper on their own. The DMD helped a little, but the difference is not all that profound on my car. Good thing I get wholesale prices now!!

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I'm putting mine on today. Did you take the wheel off when you did it or just turn it? Also, can i use the impact gun to take the old bolt off using the 5th gear, foot on brake method?

Well after 3 hours...its on. So 1st of all, no matter what gear i put it in and had my foot on the brake, the pulley still turned back a few degrees when loosening it, and the same when tightening it. Second, i did not have a longer bolt, so i had to use a block and mallet just until the pulley was seated enough for the old bolt to be used as a tightener. I broke 1 18mm socket getting it torqued back on, but i got another one and completed the 3 part tightening. SHe started up fine and the engine is noticeabley smoother above 3500. At 3500 there is a louder whine then before which dissipates above and below 3500. Any tips for breaking it in?

No need to break it in. The extra mass seems to make a whining noise that sounds curiously like an old belt needing replacement. I've had two mechanics tell me to get a new serp belt, even though mine was brand new. Others have reported the same thing, so I don't worry about it.

I kind of like the whine... you don't hear it at WOT though.. just when reving slowly.
